Privacy policy

The short version

There is no sign-up, no account and no contact form standing between you and a result. Nothing you type into any tool on this domain is stored afterwards, and none of it is ever sold or passed to a third party who might want to sell you something.

What the tools do with your input

Several of the calculators run entirely inside your own browser: the figures never leave your device at all. Where a tool does need to reach a server - to look up solar production for a location, for example - the request is used to produce your answer and is not written to any database or attached to any profile.

Where a tool queries an outside service, that service is named on the tool's own methodology page along with what is sent to it. Those are public data sources such as US government datasets, not advertising or analytics companies.

Server logs

The hosting provider records standard request logs - IP address, time, page requested and browser user agent - which are used to keep the sites running and secure, and are retained only briefly.

Cookies and local storage

These sites set no tracking cookies of their own. A light or dark theme choice is kept in your browser's local storage on your own device and is never transmitted.

Advertising

These sites may display advertising from Google AdSense to cover running costs. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info. Google's own practices are described in its privacy and terms page.

Advertising is never tailored using what you type into a calculator. Your salary, your address, your debts and your electricity bill are not shared with any advertiser.

Your rights

Because no personal data is stored, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have emailed me, that correspondence exists in my mailbox and you can ask me to delete it at any time. Depending on where you live you may have rights under the GDPR or the CCPA; the simplest way to exercise them is to write to me.

Children

These tools are intended for adults making decisions about their own money and homes, and are not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from children.

Any change to this policy will be posted here with a new date above.
